Bridging The Gap Youth Empowerment NPO
April 25, 2022
Bridging the gap youth empowerment (BTGYE) is a South African registered non-profit organisation that was established in 2018 by a group of university students who felt the urge to help improve their community by offering their time to assist matriculants with their applications and also share information about higher institutions in their surrounding schools. During this time, a need to bridge the gap between school pupils, university students, and working-class people was perceived. Thus, the students decided to start an organisation that will function as a support structure for the community at large. The organisation offers all kinds of support required by the youth to achieve their future goals and has sufficient information to make informed decisions about the said future.
Our Vision is to see the youth thrive and unlock their full potential in areas such as Academics, Financial Freedom, and Personal growth. Additionally, we dream of a community in which the youth takes over and offers the same support to future generations. We aspire to impact the spirit of inspiring and uplifting other people within the various communities.
Our vision is supported by the Mission to empower the youth from various communities to reach their full potential and prosper in their lives. We aim to achieve this by offering a helping hand in as many areas of life as we can. Furthermore, we want to create a platform where the working class, university students, and high school pupils can meet and challenge the issues of life.
Some of our objectives are:
  1.  To reduce the number of students who settle for a gap year due to unsuccessful university applications.
  2. Host seminars that will teach new skills or improve the current skills of the youth.
  3. Improve access to information about higher institutions for the youth around the community.
The organisation’s core projects are the Mentorship program, where members of the org offer academic support to grade matriculants in the capacity of a mentor throughout the year, and also the Applications program, where we set out a day every year where we avail ourselves to apply for the learners in higher institutions of their choice and also assist in applications for funding.
We recently hosted our open day event at the Elim Mall, in Limpopo Province on the 2nd of April 2022 where we availed ourselves to share the important higher institution’s applications dates and also answer any questions that matriculants and other high school learners might have regarding the applications process.
