South African born and Johannesburg-based Nelson Makamo uses his art to give a voice to the children of his birthplace, Limpopo, the northernmost province of South Africa. He is known for using a variety of expressive mediums such as acrylic, print, watercolour and charcoal drawings, to create candid portraits of children.

We had the pleasure of having a conversation with Nelson to find out more about what he thinks of philanthropy.  Nelson is very involved in helping his community and although he did not wish to share specifics of his giving, he did share his time to explain why giving is important to him.
